Origin has contributed to the growth of Japanese
industries in various phases through the development
of high voltage power supply units.
Beginning with the power supply equipment for
the plants, the company met the industry's expectation
by providing them with optimal power supplies
as X-ray, laser, nuclear, and other new devices
were developed.
In recent years, needs for power supply equipment
have become much wider. Some examples are the
traveling wave tube power supply for microwave
amplification used in satellite communication,
the power supply for the ionbeam irradiation system
used for studying materials for nuclear fusion
reactors, and electrostatic precipitator to help
clean the environment. Simultaneously, development
of more compact and functional power supplies
is in demand for the X-ray and laser equipment
for medical application. At Origin, we are positively
engaged in the tasks for meeting new needs while

Origin aims to develop user-and ecology-friendly
power devices, with high speed, high voltage,
low loss and combination as main technological
development goals.
Having taken up the challenge of realizing innovations
in the field of semiconductors as core electronics
technologies, Origin has made steady advancement
in providing customers with power devices such
as high-speed diodes, high-voltage diodes, MOSFETs,
and silicon surge clampers essential for power
related equipment.
To satisfy ever increasing social needs for noise
reduction, ultra-soft recovery diodes (USRs) have
been widely adopted for general industrial machinery
such as uninterrupted power supplies, SW power
supplies for communications equipment and motor
inverters, and also for large industrial equipment
such as steel-making and paper-manufacturing industries.
On the other hand, high-power MOSFETs using metal
gates realize high speed switching at high frequencies,
not attainable with IGBTs, for induction heater
inverters and high-frequency power supplies for
semiconductor production equipment.
In the field of portable equipment, Origin has
developed a series of small, low-loss Schottky
barrier diodes for personal computers, portable
telephones, MDs and digital cameras, contributing
to longer service life of batteries while attaining
downsizing and less heat generation.
